The Brown County Water Utility and the Town of Nashville have reached a settlement in the dispute over who has claim to sell water to Hard Truth Hills Restaurant and Distillery.
The settlement would end a two-year legal fight.
The new agreement states Hard Truth Hills is a customer of Brown County Water Utility, but the revenue will be split evenly between Nashville and the county utility. Nashville is a wholesale customer of Brown County Water Utility.
Nashville Town Council President Jane Gore says Nashville water and Brown County representatives are forming a study group to prevent further legal disputes.
“That way, we can try to work out some issues before we have to hire the attorneys,” she says.
Another part of the agreement that’s still pending includes a 34 percent wholesale water rate increase for Nashville.
Gore says Nashville will be done helping Brown County Water Utility pay for two expansions in the next two years which amount to $16,000 a month.
