The American Red Cross is recruiting volunteers in Indiana to help address recent disasters occurring across the US as well as within the state.
The Indiana Region of the American Red Cross is speeding up training for its Disaster Action Team and is now allowing people to train virtually.
Disaster Action Team members volunteer locally to assist with disasters such as home fires.
They also cover for longer-term volunteers sent to assist with disasters such as the wildfires or hurricanes, Red Cross official Donna Colón said Sunday.
“We are really promoting our Disaster Action Team, really to backfill those slots as those volunteers are deploying out,” said Colón, who directs the ARC's Indiana Region.
The Indiana Region is holding virtual volunteer interest sessions via Zoom each day this week.
Volunteers can also sign up at www.redcross.org/volunteertoday.
