After the Indiana State Department of Health on Friday and Saturday reported record-high case numbers, Monroe County on Monday broke 2,000 positive COVID-19 cases.
The ISDH reported 39 new cases in the county, bringing the total to 2,026 positive case since the pandemic began. The county has tested 42,460 individuals and administered 61,391 total tests with a seven-day positivity rate of 9.8% for all tests. Unique individuals continue to test higher than those being retested with a seven-day positivity rate of 12.3% — more than three times that of the rate on Aug. 31 but less than the 15% reported last Monday.
Monroe County’s death count remained at 36 for the 21 st consecutive day.
Across the state, the ISDH reported 755 new positive cases and two deaths all confirmed on Sept. 13, bringing the state totals to 106,540 and 3,215, respectively. The state has administered 1,738,305 tests and tested 1,247,293 Hoosiers (about 18% of the state’s population.) The state currently boasts a 4.9% seven-day positivity rate for all tests and a 7% positivity rate for unique individuals, according to ISDH data.
Hospitalization counts remain consistent at 844 Hoosiers hospitalized due to COVID-19.
