Data from Indiana University's COVID-19 mitigation testing program shows that positivity rates are sinking among communal living, residence halls, and other student populations.
The university's most recent update is from testing done Sept. 5-11. Those results show a positivity rate of 4.67% across IU Bloomington.
Among Greek houses, the positivity rate dropped from 25.3% to 15.4%. Among Greek students who don't live in a chapter house, it dropped from 14.1% to 10.9%. In residence halls, it dropped from 3.6% to 2.5%, and among off-campus students it dropped from 3% to 2.9%.
"We are cautiously optimistic these results signal our collective efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 are working," a dashboard message says.
IU Bloomington is also housing fewer students in its COVID-19 isolation facility, with around 118 students currently in residence at Ashton Residence Center. That's down from around 191 the week before.
As of Thursday afternoon, 25 Greek houses are under a quarantine order from the Monroe County Health Department, down from 33 last week.
