Active COVID-19 cases at a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility in Terre Haute have declined by more than half since the beginning of September.
According to data on the BOP website, there are now 34 active inmate cases at the Federal Correctional Institution and just 14 active inmate cases at the U.S. Penitentiary, which together house more than 2,400 inmates. There are no active staff cases.
That's in contrast to data from Aug. 31, which showed 45 activate inmate cases and two active staff cases at FCI, as well as 57 active inmate cases at USP.
Current data also shows three inmate deaths from COVID-19 in Terre Haute; one at FCI and two at USP.
Nationwide as of Thursday, there are 2,013 federal inmates and 687 staff members who have active COVID-19 diagnoses.
