Officials continue investigating the cause of a fire that razed three homes and damaged two more on the South Side of Bloomington last week.
According to a statement from the Monroe Fire Protection District released Friday, investigators continue looking for the cause of the house fire on Sept. 21, which they say likely began on the north side, exterior of 3533 South Wickens Street.

Audio, videos and photos obtained from witnesses indicate the fire burned approximately 10 minutes before anyone noticed. At 1:06 pm, the same time fire crews were dispatched, a small explosion occurred. Investigators suspect an air condensing unit may be involved with the blaze but said the cause is still undetermined.
Officials contribute the rapid spread of the fire to the proximity of the homes.
