A third public forum is set for Tuesday night on how to redevelop the current site of the IU Health Bloomington Hospital once construction on the new facility is completed.

At the last public meeting, the consultants on the project came up with three different concepts for the space.

The urban design team from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is working with the city to settle on a final design by the end of the year.

So far, the team suggests three different designs that would add more greenspace through gardens, terrace landscapes and small parks.

The three options the consultants presented are for site design and connectivity to the city:

  • Scheme 1 uses smaller parks and gardens that connects to an east to west pedestrian way.
  • Scheme 2 is a series of terraced landscapes that runs north and south with one less connecting street.
  • And scheme 3 is a broad, larger greenspace running east to west with storm water features.

Tuesday's forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be available to all members of the public on the city’s website via Zoom.
