Indiana University updated its COVID-19 dashboard Wednesday with numbers consistent with Monroe County’s but opposite state trends.
IU reported a decrease in positivity rates among all student groups between Sept. 27 to Oct. 3. Students living in communal Greek houses had rates fall from 2.1% to 1.6%, while rates in residence halls fell from 1.5% to 1.2%. Off campus, Greek-affiliated students who don't live in their organization's house had a 3.4% positivity rate — down from 4.4%, and other off-campus student rates fell from 0.9% to 0.5%.
The university administered 9,507 mitigation tests with a 1.08% positivity rate, which totaled 103 positive cases, and also administered 152 symptomatic tests with a 16.45% positivity rate from an additional 25 new cases.
According to the dashboard, IU has administered 91,551 tests the university reports to the state but with a slight delay. This delay explains discrepancies between university, county and state data.
The ISDH reported Monroe County has administered a total of 92,829 tests with a seven-day positivity rate of 1.5% and 22 new cases of COVID-19, increasing the county total to 2,868 positive cases. The death toll remained at 37.
Indiana’s COVID-19 numbers are trending in the opposite direction as the state positivity rate grew to 5% — the highest it has been since Sept. 5. This increase comes two weeks after Gov. Eric Holcomb announced Indiana would move into Stage Five of its reopening plan.
The ISDH reported 1,302 new cases and 17 new deaths, totaling 128,227 cases and 3,500 deaths, and the state has administered 2,220,232 tests.
