Indiana is reporting the largest number of cases in a single day, according to the State Department of Health. Thursday, the department report 1,488 new positive cases of COVID-19 — 1,487 of which were confirmed on Oct. 7.
Over the past month, the number of positive cases confirmed each day has increased steadily from a daily average of 767 cases on Sept. 9 to an average of 1221 on Oct. 8.
The state also reported 16 new COVID-19 deaths in Indiana which increases state totals to 3,515 deaths and 129,677 positive cases. The state has administered 2,246,099 tests with a positivity rate of 5.1%.
In Monroe County, ISDH confirmed 21 new cases, increasing the county total to 2,890. The death toll remained the same at 37. The county has administered 93,347 tests with a 1.4% seven-day positivity rate.
Indiana currently has 1,110 Hoosiers hospitalized due to the virus.
