Monroe County adds 209 new COVID-19 cases

Monroe County confirmed 209 new  COVID-19 cases Tuesday, up from 56 Monday. This brings the county total to 24,306 since the pandemic began. No new deaths were reported.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown and Bartholomew counties, 162 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. This is down from 167 Monday. About 49 percent of ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients and only eight percent are still available.

The county’s positivity rate rose to 22.7 from 22.5 percent Monday.

Monroe County remains is in the red advisory level on the state dashboard with 1,457 cases per 100,000 people. The state updates these statistics every Wednesday.  

State

The state confirmed 10,164 new cases, up from 5,965 Monday. This brings the total count since the pandemic began to 1,569,850.  

Indiana added 134 new deaths, meaning 20,167 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19.

The state has 3,204 COVID-19 hospitalizations, up from 3,137 Monday.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 30.4 percent, up slightly from 30.3 percent Monday.
