Monroe Co. reports 272 new COVID-19 cases

Monroe County confirmed 272 new  COVID-19 casesThursday, up from 226 Wednesday. In total, 24,774 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began.

No new deaths were reported.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, COVID-19 hospitalizations dropped to 151 patients from 162 Wednesday. About 44 percent of ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients and 10 percent are available. 

The county’s positivity rate is 22.4 percent, up from 22.3 percent Wednesday.

State

The state confirmed 12,230 new cases, which is up from 5,536 Wednesday. In total, 1,587,005 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. 

Indiana also added 104 new deaths, bringing the state total to 20,400.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 30.7 percent, up from 30.5 percent Wednesday.

In total, 3,013 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized across the state. Currently, more than 42 percent of ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients, and almost 12 percent are available.
