Terre Haute officers were involved in a shooting incident Tuesday morning.
Officers went to a storage building to investigate a man threatening employees with a handgun. Officers told the man to drop his weapon. When he did not comply, the officers requested negotiators and the Special Response Team. They attempted but failed to contact the suspect for two hours. The suspect left the building and pointed his handgun at the officers. Officers shot the man after he did not comply with commands to drop his weapon. The suspect was taken to a Terre Haute hospital where he died. The man was identified as 34-year-old Christopher Fortin. The two Terre Haute officers have been placed on administrative leave.
