A Mitchell woman died in a three-vehicle crash on State Road 37 in Orange County Tuesday afternoon.

According to an Indiana State Police report, Debra Jean, 64, was driving south on State Road 37 near the intersection County Road 900 S. shortly before 1 p.m. when she crossed the center line, striking the left tandem axle of the semi-trailer hauled by Joseph Dosier.

Jean’s car then struck a semi-trailer driven by Sidney Dosier head-on. Dosier’s semi slid off the road, with the trailer blocked the northbound lane. Jean’s car came to a rest down the embankment on the other side of the road.

State Road 37 was closed for several hours to remove the vehicles and clean debris, according to the report.

Jean was pronounced dead at the scene. Sidney Dosier was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for observation.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, but they believe alcohol or drugs were not involved.
