VetCheck has been planning to open a clinic in Bloomington since at least December of 2022.

This story his been updated.

A new emergency vet clinic that opened yesterday will fill the vacancy of emergency veterinary services in Bloomington.

VetCheck Urgent Care opened yesterday after failing to open last summer. The clinic is open on weekdays from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekends.

The clinic, located in Whitehall Plaza right next to At Home, was scheduled to open in the spring of 2023 before being pushed back to the last week of June 2023

The clinic isn’t meant to replace a pet’s general practitioner, but instead to provide urgent care services for symptoms such as excess vomiting, physical injuries and more. A full list of available treatments is available on  the company’s website.

If an animal’s condition is deemed too critical for the facility, VetCheck can coordinate a transfer to an emergency animal hospital.

The clinic will fill a gap in coverage in town. Previously, residents would have to drive to Greenwood or Fishers for service. The company decided to open a new office in Bloomington after noticing the number of people making the trip.
