Monroe County Court experiences server outage

The Monroe County court system has been closed countywide since Monday morning. The latest update Tuesday said the court will reopen Monday.

Residents were notified about the closure through messages sent out from the Monroe County Emergency Management alert system.

The courts closed at noon Monday, according to the first alert sent around 10:30 that morning.

An additional message sent around 5:30 Monday afternoon announced the courts would remain closed Tuesday. However, jail employees, road deputies and highway workers would not be affected. The sheriff’s office was also not affected by the outage.

In an update from Commissioners’ Administrator Angela Purdie, the county government “experienced a technological event” that made servers inaccessible.

“We have elicited outside professional help and we hope to be in better standing later this week,” the update said.

It is not clear what specifically caused the outage. The Herald-Times spoke to County Attorney Jeff Cockerill, who did not think it was related to the storm last Tuesday.

The county is waiting on a full analysis of the network and servers to provide any additional updates.
