Monroe County will not accept any more requests for debris collection

The agency says the county has limited resources available to assist with debris collection.
The agency says the county has limited resources available to assist with debris collection.

Monroe County said it will no longer be accepting request forms for debris pickup in county jurisdiction after last month’s storm.

In an email, Monroe County Emergency Management Agency deputy director Justin Baker said if the request wasn’t received before 2 p.m. today (Tuesday), pickup will not be available “due to the large number of requests that have already been received. This is due to the limited resources available due to continuous storms statewide.”

Previously submitted requests for pickup have been passed along to a private contractor. The contractor is currently working through Perry Township.

The county already had to extend the pickup time frame due to the amount of debris. According to a press release, the agency says county officials are working on an updated pickup schedule.

The current schedule is as follows:

  • Perry Township, July 8-12
  • Van Buren, July 15-19
  • Clear Creek, July 22-26
  • Richland and Bloomington, July 29-Aug. 2
  • Salt Creek, Aug. 5-9
  • Polk, Aug. 12-16

The agency says “updates will be provided if resources and funding sources change as the county proceeds with this contract.”

If you still need debris pickup within city limits, submit a request through uReport on the city’s website.
