Chilly daytime temperatures are expected to turn much colder tonight with the potential for freezing conditions and patchy frost for south central Indiana.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Indianapolis have issued a frost advisory for Wednesday from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m.

Temperatures could drop to 34 degrees, harming sensitive outdoor vegetation Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Daytime highs are predicted to slowly climb back from the lower 50s today to the upper 60s by Saturday.

What's that frozen precipitation that is falling from the sky? With the warmer temperatures at the surface, what you are seeing is called graupel. Snowflakes higher up collect super-cooled water droplets on its surface as it falls. #inwx pic.twitter.com/L5ASag4tDW — NWS Indianapolis (@NWSIndianapolis) October 15, 2024
