Former Indiana University basketball player Larry Richardson Jr. became the fourth named plaintiff in the lawsuit alleging former team doctor Bradford Bomba Sr. sexually abused players under the guise of medical care.

Richardson, who played for IU from 1995 to 2000, joins former players Haris Mujezinovic, Charlie Miller and John Flowers as plaintiffs.

The defendants are IU's trustees and men's basketball trainer Tim Garl, who has been in his position since 1981. Garl is accused of knowing about, but not preventing, unnecessary rectal examinations on players by Bomba Sr.

Court documents say Garl "will show that the prevailing standard of care at the relevant time included digital rectal examinations as part of a complete physical examination of college-aged males. In fact, failing to perform them would have fallen below the standard of care. But even assuming ... that rectal examinations were not required by the applicable standard of care, they were not inappropriate."
