Noon Edition: Red, White and Righteous

Noon Edition: Red, White and Righteous
WFIU and WTIU invite you to a special live broadcast of Noon Edition at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bloomington. This discussion explores the intersection of faith and politics in Indiana through the lens of "Red, White and Righteous," a new newsroom project examining the rise of Christian nationalism in the state and what it means for civic life in a diverse democracy.
The project began after Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith publicly identified as a Christian nationalist and a recent resolution in the Indiana General Assembly urged lawmakers to “humbly submit its ways to the Lord, Jesus Christ.” Though the resolution failed, it drew support from more than 20% of House members, raising questions about the proper role of faith in public life.
Noon Edition will be hosted by Bob Zaltsberg, who will moderate a conversation with Dan Conkle, Robert H. McKinney Professor of Law Emeritus and Adjunct Professor of Religious Studies at Indiana University, and Pastor Bob Whitaker of Christ Community Church in Bloomington. Additional guests may be added as the panel is finalized.
As a special feature for the live audience, following the broadcast the "Red, White and Righteous" project team will join the panel on stage to answer questions and share behind-the-scenes insights about their reporting process. See the full project—including articles, podcast episodes, bonus content, a video segment, and a resource guide—at ipm.org/righteous.
This event is free and open to the public. Audience members are encouraged to attend in person and take part in the post-show Q&A.
