The Chips Are Down For Seyfert's: Reports Say Company Ceasing Operations

Reports suggest longtime Fort Wayne potato chip, pretzel and cheese puff producer Seyfert’s will close.

The company would likely need formally to warn the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, but a spokeswoman says she’s not aware of any such notice and no document has been  published online.

Indiana Chamber spokesman Tom Schuman says the company’s longevity means the impact of its closure would be felt differently.

“Unfortunately this is symbolic of what we’re seeing in this day and age the company no longer find it profitable or maybe potentially haven’t adapted to what they need to do to still be profitable,” says Schuman.

The company has been a subsidiary of numerous companies in the last two decades, including Borden and Troyer Farms.

The Fort Wayne-based company has been a snack maker for more than 80 years.
