Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton (D) is planning to run for re-election. A press release says he plans to host a re-election launch party at Monroe County Democratic Party Headquarters Tuesday night.
Hamilton is serving his first term as Bloomington mayor.
Monroe County Commissioners President Amanda Barge announced last month she's exploring a possible challenge for the Democratic nomination for mayor.
While Barge supported Hamilton when he announced his run for mayor in 2015, she says she's disappointed by the lack of progress in Bloomington since he took office in 2016.
She plans to make a decision on whether to officially throw her name into the ring in January.
