The Monroe County Convention Center expansion project is moving forward with a public forum next week.

The steering committee is asking for input, questions, and comments for how the convention center expands in downtown Bloomington.

Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton says the first year of the county food and beverage tax income will fund the engagement and design process.

“Our architects and our public process and we have a large steering committee with people helping oversee this, will look at really the whole area, around the convention center," Hamilton says. "What do we want it to be like?”

Project architect Convergence Design will hold interviews with more than 300 project stakeholders over the course of three days.

The public forum is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Monroe Convention Center.

A website is also available for project updates and to submit comments and questions.
