Brown County is getting $1 million in funding from the state as part of Governor Holcomb's Community Crossings initiative.
The Community Crossings program awards a total of $115 million in matching funds for local road projects across Indiana. Local governments either have to commit to providing 25 to 50 percent in matching funds, depending on their size.
Holcomb presented the check in Brown County Friday afternoon.
"Each year it just seems to get bigger and better, and certainly more popular and uber-competitive," Holcomb says.
Holcomb dubbed it a "unique partnership" between the local and state government.
The initiative has provided more than $500 million in state matching funds for construction projects.
