The Indianapolis Airport Authority today voted unanimously, nine to zero, to expand its amended smoking ordinance. The current ordinance bans smoking on airport property and the new move bans e-cigarettes and other vapor cigarettes.
Airport Spokesman Carlo Bertolini says the expanded policy takes effect April 1st. Bertolini says they included e-cigarettes to end confusion over what people may or may not be able to smoke.
Bertolini says if people are caught smoking, airport police or other designated personnel can issue either a warning or a $75 fine. The ordinance applies to patrons and airport personnel.
