The U.S. Department of Justice has named Josh Minkler as the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, replacing Joe Hogsett.
Minkler served as the First Assistant under Hogsett and will now lead the federal prosecutor's office.
Earlier in July, Hogsett announced his resignation as U.S. District Attorney, sparking speculation that he may have higher political ambitions. He has since joined the law firmBose McKinney & Evans.
Minkler graduated from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington in 1988, and earned a bachelor's degree from Wabash College in 1985. He has also served as drug unit chief.
A permanent replacement for the U.S. District Attorney will be nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate.
