The Columbus-based engine manufacturer Cummins has narrowed down the list of possible designers for its new building in downtown Indianapolis.
Three architecture firms are vying for a chance to change the landscape downtown with unique design ideas that meet a wide range of criteria.
The three companies are all based out of New York City. They are Deborah Berke Partners, SHoP Architects, and Tod Williams Billie Tsien.
Cummins spokesman Jon Mills says the company will look at how well a company stays on budget and timeline, peer reviews, and hiring and contracting practices including women and minority owned consideration.
"What we're asking these firms that are in that they align with our mission and values, which includes diversity and partnering with Indiana firms," Mills says.
The winner will be determined by the middle of September, with ground breaking early next year, and an expected completion date in 2016.
