Second Judge Strikes Down 'Right To Work' Law

The Indiana Attorney General is asking a Lake County judge to halt the effect of his ruling that strikes down Indiana's right to work law.

The law, passed in 2012, bans union contracts that require non-union employees to pay fees for representation.

Lake County Circuit Court Judge George Paras ruled last week that right to work is unconstitutional and did not stay his ruling. Attorney General Greg Zoeller wants the judge to issue a stay while the case is appealed to the Indiana Supreme Court.

Another Lake County Judge, Superior Court Judge John Sedia, ruled the right to work law unconstitutional last year in a separate lawsuit. The state's appeal in that case is set for a hearing at the Indiana Supreme Court in September.
