An Indiana propane supplier will refund 93 Indiana consumers who were overcharged for propane last winter, after the company reached a settlement with the state of Indiana.
Last fall, Jasper-based Ashland Propane Demotte, entered into ‘pre-buy' contracts with consumers, but, when the price of propane spiked in January, the customers were charged over three times the agreed-upon amount.
The company claimed the price spiked because of supply concerns, but the Indiana Attorney General said, in a statement, after investigating, Ashland did not have issues with supplies.
Now, those customers will receive almost $20,000 as compensation.
