UPDATE: Portions Of Tornado Watch Allowed To Expire

6:00 P.M. UPDATE

Portions of the tornado watch in southern Indiana are being allowed to expire early. Only the far areas of southern Indiana including Dubois, Orange, Washington and Scott counties are under a threat for severe weather now.

3:25 P.M. UPDATE

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for southern Indiana until 9 p.m. Primary threats include tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds of 70 MPH.

Forecasters say an unstable air mass is expected to fuel thunderstorms over the next several hours along a front that's settling over the Ohio River.

1:00 P.M. UPDATE

Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across southern Indiana this afternoon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Indianapolis say lightning, damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, flash flooding and tornadoes are possible.

Many areas have already seen heavy rain and flash flooding today. Motorists should turn around when approaching flooded roadways.
