Suspect Charged With Murder Of IMPD Officer Perry Renn

A murder charge has been filed against 25-year old Major Davis Jr. in the shooting death of IMPD Officer Perry Renn.

Renn was killed while on duty Saturday night during an alley fight.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry says his office has also filed a request for enhancement of any ultimate sentence based upon the use of a firearm in the killing of officer Renn.

Prosecutor Curry says he is considering seeking the death penalty, but a final decision has not yet been made.

Curry says the newly-passed criminal code revisions could add 5 to 20 years to any possible sentence since a firearm was used in the crime. Davis is currently listed in stable condition at Eskenazi Hospital and is being treated for gunshot wounds.
