The Bloomington City Council is deferring a vote on an ordinance regulating street food vendors until early next year.
Council members made the decision Wednesday when they met to discuss the issue for a third time.
This is the second time a vote on new rules for food trucks downtown has been postponed.
Wednesday's special meeting was arranged after the first delay in hopes of getting in a vote before the holidays.
Members of the community, including food truck and cart vendors and local restaurant owners, came to the meeting, but the council voted unanimously to defer the official vote on the regulations until early next year.
Most members of the council explained their reasoning, saying the legislation needed time for revision and amending in order to address issues that have arisen as the ordinance has been discussed.
