The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is sending out notifications to customers who are eligible for tax refunds.
The BMV announced last month it improperly calculated taxes on more than 5 million registered vehicles since 2004. The office failed to account for vehicle depreciation.
As a result, BMV officials announced today, they will send out letters to Hoosiers who are eligible to receive money back.
"The BMV will use all reasonable measures to locate everyone entitled to a refund, including follow-up mailings and the use of national databases to locate individuals who may have moved outside of Indiana," BMV Commissioner Don Snemis said in a statement.
If you receive a claim form, BMV officials say you need to fill it out and return it to the BMV.
Claims then should be processed within 30 days.
If someone thinks they are owed a refund but does not receive a mailing, they can also print out a refund application form online.
