Kokomo Remembers Tornadoes One Year Later

Monday marks a year since two tornadoes touched down in the Kokomo area.

Hundreds of homes were damaged — some so severely that families have yet to return.

Kokomo mayor Greg Goodnight says a rough winter after the tornadoes made it difficult to rebuild, but the community has pulled together and made big strides.

He says there's been a lot of rebuilding, but for some community members and businesses, the biggest hurdle has been reaching a settlement with insurance companies.

A series of 26 tornadoes struck Indiana on Nov. 17, 2013, making it the second most active day for tornadoes in the state's history.
