Appeals Court Rejects Notre Dame Contraception Case, Again

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is ruling for a second time that the University of Notre Dame must comply with the Affordable Care Act birth control mandate.

As we've reported, the U.S. Supreme Court threw out an earlier appeals court decision that denied Notre Dame's religious objections to the contraception requirement.

The appeals court had ruled against Notre Dame before the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on a similar case involving Hobby Lobby.

Notre Dame argued the Supreme Court decision in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby means it isn't required to provide employees with birth control because it goes against its religious beliefs.

The appeals court was asked to reconsider its original ruling denying those objections, but after taking the Supreme Court's decision into consideration, the appeals court reaffirmed its earlier ruling.
