2014 was a record-breaking year for future tourism in the Circle City.
VisitIndy Spokesman Chris Gahl says the city has booked 880,552 future hotel room nights and conventions, which total nearly $815 million in future economic impact for Indianapolis.
The previous record of 814,520 hotel room nights was set back in 2002.
Gahl says the bookings are directly linked to the planned return of the National Rifle Association‘s Annual Meetings, which will return to Indy in 2019 and 2023, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation‘s 2017 Conference and the American Veterinary Medical Association‘s 2017 Annual Convention — in addition to other medical conferences.
Gahl says this comes as they‘re preparing VisitIndy‘s Tourism Master Plan for the year.
He says they‘re also engaging local residents to spread the word nationwide about Indianapolis.
