The body of Hannah N. Wilson, 22, who is from Fishers and was a student at Indiana University, was discovered today in Brown County, Indiana State Police report.
Wilson was reported missing earlier this afternoon.
The police say they have arrested Bloomington resident Daniel E. Messel, 49, on preliminary murder charges.
The Indiana State Police are conducting an investigation into Wilson's death alongside the Bloomington Police Department. Monroe County Prosecutor's Office, the Brown County prosecutor and the Brown County coroner are also involved in the case.
IU officials expressed their condolences to Wilson's family.
"The entire IU Bloomington community mourns the tragic death of Hannah Wilson," IU spokesman Mark Land said. "Our deepest sympathies go out to Hannah's family and friends during this unspeakably sad time."
The IU Bloomington Twitter account sent out a message as well.
