Public Meetings This Week On Final Stretch Of I-69

The Indiana Department of Transportation is hosting two public meetings this week regarding the last leg of I-69, which will connect Martinsville to Indianapolis.

INDOT Spokesman Will Wingfield says the state hopes to hear the public's opinion on two topics: Exactly what route the road should take and any additional considerations INDOT needs to take as it actually builds the interstate.

"People who live in a specific area know it best, so it's on a regular occasion that we receive information that may not be available through public records, that may not be available through aerial maps," Wingfield says.

The first meeting will take place Monday at Center Grove Middle School North in Greenwood. The second will be held at Martinsville High School on Tuesday. Doors for both will open at 5:30 in the evening.
