The state has a new weapon in tracking government corruption and holding public officials accountable when they misuse your tax dollars.
The State Board of Accounts, the state agency tasked with auditing local government like towns and schools, recently hired Andy Shank for a newly created position—Director of Special Investigations.
Shank's role is to act as a liaison between SBOA and local agencies, like county prosecutors and police.
The goal is to prosecute more public officials when SBOA uncovers criminal activity.
Shank comes to SBOA after 13 years with Indiana State Police, nearly half of it assigned to the FBI.
