Absentee voting for Monroe County and Bloomington municipal elections began Tuesday.
Voters can submit absentee ballots by mail starting this week or vote in person starting later this month at the Monroe County Clerk's office.
While statewide in-person early voting began Tuesday, the Monroe County Election Board voted to condense the early voting period in Monroe County because of the small number of contested districts.
Bloomington voters will see fewer polling places and smaller ballots this year because in most city council districts, candidates are running unopposed.
The towns of Stinesville and Ellettsville won't hold any municipal elections because all of the candidates are running unopposed.

Officials will distribute ballots and operate nine polling sites in Bloomington City Council Districts 2 and 3, the only districts with contested races.
