Ben Carson Supporters Gather For Fort Wayne Rally

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is visiting Fort Wayne Thursday with hopes of spreading his message to the Midwest.

Megan Vasquez showed up six hours early to the rally at the Fort Wayne Coliseum to be first in line.

She wore a Ben Carson T-shirt and couldn't stop smiling, despite not being able to hear him speak. She has to leave the rally early to sing at her church's choir in Marion.

"I just wanted to show my support," she says. "I'm just that ecstatic about Ben Carson."

She says she's voting for Carson for his religious views.

"God first, family second and Ben Carson third," she says.

Some attendees are undecided about who they'll vote for and hoped to learn more about his foreign policy plans.

Bruce Pfaff, the Midwest Field Director for Carson's campaign says hopes to see 3,000-4,000 people attend the rally to hear what he says is an inspiring message.

"He speaks from the heart. He doesn't read speeches and he really talks about what he believes is important for this country and how we need to move forward as a nation and come together," Pfaff says.

Carson was one of the leading Republican candidates in the presidential race, though recent polls have placed him out of the top three.

There aren't any more stops in Indiana on this trip, but Pfaff says Carson will come back soon.
