MADD To Host Statehouse Vigil Thursday Night

Mothers Against Drunk Driving of Indiana will host a candlelight vigil during its National Day of Remembrance on Thursday to honor those who lost their lives as a result of impaired driving.

Over the holiday season, families will travel the roads to visit family and friends and go shopping, but with the joy of the season also comes tragedy.

Families of victims, survivors and law enforcement officials will gather for the vigil from 6-8 p.m. at the Indiana Statehouse.

MADD Indiana Victims Services Specialist Lael Hill says the organization also hopes to shine a light on the alarming number of lives impacted by drunk driving during the holiday season.

Hill says many impaired driving accidents could be avoided if people would plan ahead and have a designated driver, or schedule a ride home from a cab or rideshare service.
