Athletes and veterans alike with brain injuries, both physical and psychological, could be treated at the Global Center for Brain Health. The proposed facility would be constructed at the old terminal of the Indianapolis Airport.
The Athlete's Business Networkannounced Tuesday that it plans to build a $500 million medical complex that will focus on brain injuries, concussions and post traumatic stress disorder.
"My brother was one of the toughest Army Rangers that I knew," says ABN CEO Craig Sanders, himself a former Army officer. "He committed suicide 12 years ago. It was very tragic. And he's a big part of our thesis here."
The Indy Star reports that ABN does not have financing for the project yet. ABN needs a letter of intent from the Airport Authority which could come this week.
In addition to medical office facilities the complex would also includes a 20,000 seat stadium and two hotels.
The Global Center for Brain Health could potentially bring 3,000 jobs.
There is also a second economic development project from Holladay Properties that would be near Washington Street in Indianapolis.
The Airport Authority will vote on approval for the complex Friday.
