Paoli Bridge Could Cost $1 Million To Repair

An Orange County commissioner says estimates indicate it could cost roughly $1 million to repair a historic bridge that collapsed under the weight of a semi on Christmas Day.

Police say Mary Lambright ignored posted six-ton weight limit signs when she drove a semi over the South Gospel Street bridge in Paoli last month. The truck was carrying 43,000 lbs. of bottled water and caused the bridge to collapse.

Commissioner Donald Crockett says the county is still waiting to hear back from the trucking company's insurer before moving forward with repairs. They hope insurance will cover the full cost of fixing the bridge, which was built in 1880.

Lambright will make her initial appearance in court Monday. She faces several charges, including reckless operation of a tractor-trailer.
