President Obama reiterated his support for France in a press conference Tuesday and outlined how the U.S. plans to assist its ally in the fight against the group that calls itself ISIS. Although this plan is more aggressive than what was in place previously, it is not a major change in strategy.
Republican Senator Dan Coats says the statements he heard during Tuesday's press conference as well as recent bombings of ISIS-controlled oil fields in Syria are a step in the right direction. But Coats says he wants to see a more aggressive approach from the U.S. when it comes to ISIS.
"Until we form a coalition of those who have a strong opposition to what ISIL is doing and are willing to join an effort to defeat ISIL, we're going to continue to have these problems with terrorism and incidents like what took place in Paris," Coats says.
Coats adds he liked seeing the President in conversation with the French president, but says he felt Obama's statements were reactions to public opinion.
