Indiana's unemployment rate dropped to its lowest level in eight years last month.
The unemployment rate fell by 1/10 of a percent to 4.6 percent in August; that's the lowest level since 2007.
Yet the state's private sector lost 5,500 jobs last month, the first drop since February.
Still, the Hoosier State remains at peak employment, with the most Hoosiers employed at any time in Indiana's history.
And the state's labor force expanded – that's the number of people working or actively looking for a job.
Department of Workforce Development Commissioner Steven Braun notes that Indiana leads its neighboring states in growing its labor force over the last two years, which he calls a positive economic trend.
