Weekend Wintry Weather Will Largely Stay South

The National Weather Service is predicting a significant winter storm across the southern part of the state and into central Kentucky. The storm is expected to start today and continue through Saturday morning.

Forecasters say the region will get hit with heavy snow - possibly four to eight inches - along with some ice and sleet accumulations.

The area most at risk is central Kentucky. If you're thinking about traveling this weekend you might want to stay north of the Ohio River.

It will be cold in central Indiana over the weekend with highs only reaching into the mid-20s, but the area will dodge any significant snowfall. Forecasters say a dusting up to two inches is possible in areas including Bedford, Seymour and Greensburg.
