State Officials: Sexual Assault Org. Successful In First Year

An organization that temporarily took over for the Indiana Coalition Against Sexual Assault (INCASA) has made what the Attorney General calls "leaps and bounds" during its first year in operation.

INCASA was forced to shut down in 2014 because of financial insolvency. The state stepped in to reorganize the non-profit.

Attorney Deborah Daniels was appointed as the receiver and charged with evaluating the organization. A Marion County Superior Court granted a motion Thursday to close that receivership.

The replacement organization for INCASA, the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault (INCESA), has secured a million dollars in funding from state and federal grants during the last year.

In a statement, Attorney General Greg Zoeller credited Daniels for taking a bad situation and allowing the state to "move forward with the important mission of assisting and supporting victims of sexual assault."
