AP: Hoosiers Have More Health Insurance Options Than Rest Of U.S.

An analysis for The Associated Press shows Indiana consumers will have more choices than consumers in many other states in health insurance markets created by President Barack Obama's overhaul.

The analysis by Avalere Health finds most Indiana counties have three or more marketplace insurers offering coverage for 2017.

The analysis by AP and Avalere Health found that about one-third of U.S. counties will have only one health marketplace insurer.

Open enrollment starts Tuesday and ends Jan. 31.

The choices in Indiana have indeed dwindled as insurers exited the marketplace. Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana and Indiana University Health Plans are among the insurers departing the Indiana marketplace.
