Bloomington Water Quality Results Continue To Improve

The level of Disinfectant Byproducts in Bloomington's water found in samples taken in October show levels that are continuing to improve.

The City of Bloomington Utilities worked to improve water quality throughout 2016. Included in those efforts was a monthly sampling to log progress. The latest numbers show continued improvement.

It is normal for the DBP levels to fall in colder months, and City of Bloomington Utilities Director Vic Kelson noted that the department will continue fighting DBP formation.

"Our October samples are consistent with the downward trend in DBP concentrations that we expect as the water cools in the late fall," Kelson said in a statement.

Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton pointed to the numbers as "a good reflection of progress we've made in protecting our water quality in the last 10 months."
