Daybook: Anti-Discrimination In Kokomo & BMV Regulations

Good morning! Here are some of the stories we'll be following throughout the day.

Lindsey Wright is in Kokomo today for our weekly series Ask the Mayor. Last night, Mayor Greg Goodnight, D-Kokomo, delivered his ninth State of the City address. We'll ask Goodnight about his commitment to extend non-discrimination protections to LGBT Hoosiers in Kokomo, if lawmakers don't pass legislation by the end of this session. The state Senate yesterday rejected three amendments to HB 1004, which would allow local school corporations to increase the salary of a teacher without consulting the teacher's union, if the school district is trying put a teacher in a hard to fill spot (Special Ed, STEM classes, rural or urban schools). Walgreens has announced it will soon begin selling the opioid overdose drug naloxone in all pharmacies in Indiana without a prescription. Indiana police have been carrying the drug on patrol after learning how to administer it. Follow @WFIUNews on Twitter for updates throughout the day.
